Another easy pattern that makes knitting a hat look harder than it is. This simple hat has a ribbed edge with a slight tab that can be buttoned. I just used simple buttons I had lying around, but this hat is endlessly variable, so I’m sure I’ll be making more in the future. I’ll just need to get some more buttons. I think you could even make button holes and have it actually button (the buttons here are just sewed on), but that would make it more complicated than it needed to be. Pattern is available here.
I didn’t have a size 7 round needle and didn’t want to knit the hat flat, so I went down to my next size available (4) and increased the number of stitches to start with to 122. I like the look of the smaller stich for all that area of stockinette.
