Today was my first day of work. The short version is that it went really well, better than I expected.
My drive into work isn’t bad, though I nearly had someone crash into me when two roads converged and they tried to change lanes without check their blind spot. Parking is pretty easy, though I imagine it’s not going to be much fun to walk up the hill to work every day when it’s cold and/or snowy.
From what I can tell, I’m really going to like my co-workers. They seem pretty laid back, but good at what they do, and some of them are actually quite fun. At the moment, I only have a table by the wall for a desk, but I will get my own cube eventually. Coffee seems to be in plentiful supply, and the overall environment seems really great.
As far as the job itself, I wont go into boring librarian details, but I’m excited about it. There is some new leadership coming into the library, so there will probably changes afoot soon, which I think can be a good thing. I got a three-plus hour tour of the library from my boss and was introduced to many, many people. It was a little weird to be introduced as “Jessica Hagman” so many times since I’m still getting used to that name, but perhaps using it 100 times in a day will help me get over that!

Yea you!
